1964 – Lay auditors at Vatican II

The New Men and Women Auditors 

As we reported last week, twenty-three new auditors have been appointed to the Council. The fifteen women are : Signora Alda Micelli (Italy), president general of the ‘Regalita di Cristo missionaries; Sefiora Pilar Bellosillo (Spain), president of the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organisations ; Miss Rosemary Goldie (Australia), executive secretary of COPECIAL ; Mlle. Marie-Louise Monnet (France), president of the International Middle Class Movement ; Miss Anna Maria Roeloffzen (Netherlands), secretary of the International Federation of Young Catholic Women ; Marchesa Amalia Cordero Lanza Montezemolo (Italy), president of the Organisation .for Spiritual Assistance to the Armed Forces ; Signora Iduccia Marenco Grillo (Italy), of the Women’s Union of Italian Catholic Action ; Mother Sabine de Valon (France), superior general of the Dames du Sacre Coeur, and president of the Union of Superiors General ; Mother Mary Luke (USA), superior general of the Sisters of Our Lady of Loreto (Nerinx, Kentucky) and president of the Conference of Superiors of Female Institutes ; Mother Marie de la Croix Khouzam (Egypt), superior general of the Egyptian Sisters of the Sacred Heart and president of the Egyptian Teaching Sisters’ Union ; Mother Marie-Henriette Ghanam (Lebanon), superior general of the Order of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, and president of the Assembly of Superiors General ; Mother M. Juliana (Germany); of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, secretary general of the Union of German Superiors General ; Mother Guillemin (France), superior general of the Daughters of Charity ; Mother Estrada (Spain), superior general of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart ; Mother Baldinucci (Italy), superior general of the Institute of Maria Santissima Bambina.

The eight new men auditors are : M. de Rosen (France), president of UNIAPAC (Union of Catholic Businessmen) ; Professor Luigi Gedda (Italy), president of the International Federation of Catholic Doctors ; Mr. Patrick Keegan (UK), president of the International Movement of Christian Workers ; Seflor Bartolo Peres (Brazil), president of the International YCW ; M. Eusebe Abjakpley (Togo), regional secretary for Africa of the International Federation of Young Catholic Men ; Mr. Stephen Roman (Canada), of the Byzantine rite ; Mr. John Chen (Hong Kong), president of the Lay Apostolate Council ; Dr. Jose Maria Hernandez (Philippines), president of the Philippines Catholic Action.
